Letters of General C. G. Gordon to His Sister, M. A. Gordon
Description
A resetting of the author's Sam Houston and his republic, with some omissions and the addition of six chapters for campaigning purposes.-Cf. Bruce, H. The life of General Houston. Lester was born in Griswold, Connecticut, a descendant of Jonathan Edwards. He was of a roving disposition and traveled widely in the United States and Europe. He was admitted to the bar in Mississippi and later was ordained a minister in the Presbyterian church.
