Description

A dried salt lagoon in the South Australian desert will soon host OWTCAST, a post-apocalyptic wargaming event. Competitors from around the world will utilise their high-tech gear to confront one another for battle superiority on the lagoon. This highly publicised Easter event will be broadcast worldwide, attracting only the best entrants who will compete under strict guidelines. A new tent city emerges, complete with extensive infrastructure, to accommodate the thousands of spectators arriving.Kilometres away, a secretive group of tech-savvy cosplay misfits claims to have successfully harnessed the telluric currents flowing along the Earth's surface to power a new type of overland transport. They have also established a camp at a nearby salt lake. Veiled in secrecy, their project is set to be revealed during the OWTCAST event, hijacking and capturing extensive worldwide footage of their new flagship and its latest technology.Retired war correspondent Faye Lindholm has been invited to cover the story of a clandestine group. Upon her arrival, she discovers that the salt lake where they have set up camp now features a massive crater at its centre, sending muddy debris across the desert for a kilometre. Faye's interest is piqued when she learns that this subterranean explosion was man-made and that her motley crew was aware of it as it unfolded. Her curiosity deepens even further upon discovering that two more subterranean events have occurred worldwide, causing untold damage. Now, a possible third event presents two distinct threatsThe first point is that the lagoon hosting OWTCAST has been identified as the next target location, as originally intended. The second point is that a much deeper reason underlies these events, which could alter how the world we know will be governed. Race, creed, and religion might become relics of history as a claw-like grip begins to control the lands we all inhabit.Unbelievably, only one thing can stop this: our eclectic group of misfits, who have somehow discovered an insider path with their experimental transport device. What began as a conceptual futuristic war unfolding on a vast salt lagoon has now transformed into something far more dangerous. The world is in disbelief while captivated by the streaming footage and social media posts broadcast from the South Australian desert.
