Cartographer Lie

When Elijah Bell-descendant of the original captain-arrives with armed security, an uneasy alliance forms as they investigate the vessel's secrets. They discover a whalebone figurine that serves as a boundary marker between worlds. When the "ice fold"-a dimensional rift that opens every 152 years-begins to activate, the ghostly crew of the original expedition attempts to return from the other side. Ren and Bell journey through the fold to an alien reality where normal physics don't apply, pursued by the fold's otherworldly residents. Bell reveals that his bloodline has been connected to the fold since his ancestor discovered the figurine. To permanently close the passage between worlds and break the cycle, Bell sacrifices himself. Ren awakens back on the rapidly deteriorating ship, which finally sinks into the Arctic waters. Though most of her crew remembers nothing unusual, Ren carries the scar from her experience-physical proof of boundaries that should never be crossed.
