Christopher O'Reilly a man who begins the long walk home after fighting the losing effort of the civil war. Spending two years as a prisoner of war in a Union Prisoner of War Camp is difficult he maintains his sanity, but not his faith. The terrible war of bloodshed and horror leaves him confused with the God of love he grew up with in the Catholic orphanage. On his travels He carries a letter from a dead soldier he promised to deliver to his widow. It is a promise he knows he needs to keep. His problem are compounded when he meets outlaws Cole and Jim Younger. He finds work in a Brothel where he uses his skills of a carpenter to make a decent living. However conflict with a Yankee Lieutenant will send Christopher on the road again, Christopher's travels take him to Indian territory where he meets Hannah a widow woman who is lonely raising two young children. Meeting this strong willed women challenges him. She challenges him to find peace with God, which he struggles with. Redemption will come only if he chooses to accept it.
