Marie's seventeen-year-old Elizabeth has the perfect life, with a seemingly wonderful boyfriend. Meanwhile, single parent Le Ann is raising sixteen-year-old Kelli and finds it hard to relate to the pressures her daughter is facing with boys, friends, and school. When Kelli suspects Elizabeth's boyfriend is abusing her, no one believes her.
