Description
Blowback is another name for the unforeseen consequences of one's actions. It also describes the consequences of assigning Louisiana State Police Detective "Cadillac" Holland to track down a homicide fugitive the prosecutor released by accident. This is the first book in the Cadillac Holland Mysteries series and we learn how he earns his nickname, but are also, introduced to a cast of characters who will be with him through the remaining books as well. Detective Holland doesn't believe the story behind the shooting and sets out to solve what really happened the night of the shooting before he brings the fugitive to justice, establishing a habit he will repeat with every case New Orleans' Chief of Detectives assigns him. Set in post-Katrina New Orleans, the series intertwines actual events and incidents related to the city's troubled recovery from the storm and subsequent flooding with heavily layered mysteries only someone as troubled and determined as the city itself could solve.
