Description

The stalking survivors guide to navigating the stalking ordeal - for you if you are being stalked, or if you know someone who is being stalked. Many stalkers want to isolate their victims and this book was created to lessen the impact on stalking victims by giving them the opportunity to share what they are going through with a trusted loved one. Written in a warm, supportive and friendly style, and by a survivor who has been stalked since 2016, this is a practical collection of checklists, tips and tricks, research based statistics, fellow survivors stories from all over the world, exercises and examples which can actually reduce the impacts on the victim and provide the support to navigate through this much misunderstood crime. Chapters include a deep dive into the stalking laws where readers live, the many and varied destructive impacts that stalking has on victims, how to safety plan, how to understand different types of evidence, how to collect it, how to organise and manage it in a way the authorities can understand and use, how to report to police, how to deal with court and how to recover and heal from the stalking ordeal. The book includes a list of resources and support organisations who can help. At the end of the book there is an area for victims to start creating their own Stalking Timeline and help and advice on creating their own Stalking Evidence Log - two vital parts of the evidence collection with law enforcement need to be able to help victims. The author, who is legally trained with a background in education, manages an online stalking support community which you can have access to. Stalking is a much misunderstood crime and many friends and family just don't know what they can do to help their loved ones. As women in the US have as much chance of being stalked as contracting breast cancer in their lifetimes, the more we speak about and end the isolation around stalking, the better.
