The novel continues the tale of the two children brought to the pioneers in Nebraska towards the end of the 19th century: Jim Burden, an orphan from Virginia, and Ántonia Shimerda. Cather's "My Ántonia" is her masterpiece and constitutes a must-read for fans of her fantastic frontier fiction.
