The Green Fairy Book
(eBook)
Description
First Published in 1892, "The Green Fairy Book" is the fourth in a series of collections of fairy tales from around the world edited by Andrew Lang, the Scottish novelist, poet and literary critic, with translations and retellings by several authors, including his wife, Leonora Blanche Alleyne. Lang and Alleyne collaborated on popular and enduring collections of fairy tales and poetry for over twenty years. Lang and Alleyne achieved great commercial success with the publication of the "The Blue Fairy Book" in 1889, the first in the series. Each book was named after a color and included compilations of the most famous and recognizable fairy tales from all over the world. The collections published by Lang and Alleyne put these memorable and universally appealing tales into single volumes and made them accessible to generations of children and parents. "The Green Fairy Book" features such a diverse collection of legends that many readers will most assuredly be familiar with, like "The Three Little Pigs" and "The Story of the Three Bears", while others readers might be experiencing for the first time. "The Green Fairy Book" is another great installment in this classic series of legends, folklore, and fairy tales. This edition includes a biographical afterword.
