Description

The Lair of the White Worm was published in 1911, shortly before Bram Stoker's death. Set in rural England, the novel follows Adam Salton, recently returned from Australia, who encounters a mysterious series of events, all of which seem to be connected to the legend of the white worm. In the course of his investigations, Adam comes across a host of unusual characters - including the newly returned heir to the local estate, Edwin Caswell, who practises mesmerism, his brutish African servant, Oolanga, and the penniless and beautiful widow Lady March. Combining elements of gothic horror, adventure and folklore, this audiobook is sure to keep listeners on the edge of their seats. Based in part on the legend of the Lambton Worm, the book has also given rise to a film directed by Ken Russell.
