Swallows and Amazons
(Book)
Description
The crew of the Swallow spend an adventurous summer on an English lake.
Originally published in the UK in 1930, this book introduces the Walker family, the camp on Wild Cat Island, the able-bodied catboat "Swallow," and the two intrepid Amazons, plucky Nancy and Peggy Blackett. Set in the English Lake District in the period between the two World Wars, when the world was a safer and simpler place. The children have fun sailing, camping, fishing, swimming and enjoying piratical exploits on an uncharted lake.
