"After being stolen from her wealthy German parents and raised in the unforgiving wilderness of eastern Europe, Yona has amassed a lifetime of survival skills. Her solitary existence is interrupted in the early days of World War II, however, when she happens upon a group of Jews fleeing Nazi persecution. Yona finds a special connection with Aleksander, a leader of the small refugee group.
