"The Secret of the Caves" is the seventh installment in the "Hardy Boys" series of mystery stories. Written by Canadian author Charles Leslie McFarlane and published under the pen name Franklin W. Dixon in 1929, "The Secret of the Caves" ranks as one of the best books of the series. The story begins when Frank and Joe are asked by their father to help with a case involving the disappearance of a college professor named Morgan Todd. The boys travel to Kenworthy College to investigate. They discovered that the professor quickly left the college after receiving a telegram, but no one has heard from him since. The only other clues that the boys can discover are some cryptic references regarding the Honeycomb Caves near the coast. Soon, the boys find themselves investigating the mysterious and eerie coastal caves where they uncover an espionage plot involving the scientific work of the missing professor. Readers will delight in this characteristically whimsical mystery of the Hardy Boys.
